These days people are pinching pennies and living frugally, but we want to know: What's the last thing you splurged on?
I wouldn't really call it a splurge but I did get myself something for Christmas, a necklace I saw in the window of T. S. Brown's jewelry store in the cotton exchange. It's a blue enamel butterfly and I just thought it was so pretty that I had to walk inside and ask to see it. I almost didn't since all their jewelry is so expensive, but I'm glad I did since it was actually really inexpensive. I wear it almost every day. I've always loved butterflies and what they represent: metamorphosis, self growth, and becoming beautiful inside as well as out.
And since it's Self Portrait Thursday, here's a picture of me wearing it. I'm bored and listening to my ipod as you can see, on my lunch break getting fast food. My bangs are getting long, time for a haircut.
Three things I realized today:
1. When I think something is easy, it's actually harder than I think.
2. When I think something will be hard, it's not as hard as I think.
3. Pizza delivery is a rip off. $15 plus tip and I only ate 2 slices.
Not that this would ever happen, but let's say you somehow landed yourself in jail. Who would you phone with your one call?
Daniel. Because I know he'd come bail me out and if it was something really bad I could make him promise not to tell my mom, lol.
I'll be honest I don't remember my resolution from last year, it was probably to save money or do something exciting.
This year I won't to resolve to do things that might not be important to me in a year. I'm going to resolve to work on and make progress in all the areas of personal growth I struggle with: having unrealistic expectations of myself, loving myself enough, acknowledging my accomplishments instead of my faults, and most importantly, growing in my relationship with God.
I'd really like 2009 to be a year of positive change for me. I'd like to go back to school (which is kind of scary), learn to take care of my new house on my own (actually fix things around the house myself, ought to be interesting lol), and do more volunteer work to improve the lives of others. 2008 was a rough year, but I learned a lot about myself. I know 2009 will be better and I'm really looking forward to all the blessings that it will bring.
What would you attempt to do if you knew you wouldn't fail?

Lots of things... Failure is something that always scares me. I think it's because as kid I was never allowed to fail, so I never learned that if something doesn't work out, life goes on. I just try to only do things that I won't fail or go crazy making sure I'm super prepared, have a backup plan, and double backup plan. I guess sometimes I can be a little uptight.
Honestly though, if I KNEW I couldn't fail.... I would totally play the lottery. Yeah, that would be great. ;)
Other things I would do:
- learn to sew
- change careers
- be a good parent (someday)
- live in NYC for a year
- live in Lisbon for a year
What's the best thing about today?
Sunday Brunch. :)
I love a big mug of hot tea on chilly days like today. My two favorite flavors are earl grey and Kyoto cherry rose green tea, both with sugar and milk. I like coffee when I'm out at a cafe, it tastes better than if I make it at home. I have a weakness for anything with the name "mocha" in it. ;)
Some things I always keep in my purse: wallet, phone, lipstick, pens, notebook, journal, pocket bible, hairbrush, tissues, and keys.
2008 is the Year of the Rat. Which animal year were you born in?
I'm a sheep ^_^
People born in the Year of Sheep are elegant and highly accomplished in the arts. They seem to be, at first glance, better off than those born in the zodiac's other years. But Sheep year people are often shy, pessimistic, and puzzled about life. They are usually deeply religious, yet timid by nature. Sometimes clumsy in speech, they are always passionate about what they do and what they believe in. Sheep people never have to worry about having the best in life for their abilities make money for them, and they are able to enjoy the creature comforts that they like. Sheep people are wise, gentle, and compassionate. They are compatible with Rabbits, Pigs, and Horses.
You are charming, elegant and artistic.
You like to be comfortable.
You can complain and worry too much.
You will make a good actor, gardener or beachcomber.
Music. Today it was "Somewhere over the rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. I went in the quiet room during lunch and just closed my eyes and let my ipod play.
How bad is it that my job's so stressfull that they need a quiet room on every floor?
