I have been so busy the last couple weeks I haven't even had time to make a vox post. I've been taking pics of tons of different things meaning to make a post about them but I've been to lazy to just sit down and do it. Then today something happens and I don't have my camera! ugh! It wasn't a huge deal, but it was pretty cool. I was walking along the riverwalk and heard some chirping birds... except the sound was comming from under the walk towards the water. I look down and see the most beautiful barn swallow perched on beam about a foot away from me. He stayed there for a while and stared at me before flying away. He was so cute! I had never seen one in real life before. And of course I couldn't take a picture.
Here's some pics of what I've been up to in the last 2 weeks:
The azalea festival was 2 weekends ago. I've gone almost every year since I was a kid. Now that I live downtown I really love it. No fighting for parking, everything was in walking distance, it was great. My parents came down for the day and spent some time with me. We ended the night with dinner at Yosake, they've got the best sushi.
This is Robbie. He's a local tattoo artist and a friend of ours. We ran into him last week hanging outside of the local coffee shop dressed like some weird kind of tiki god. Turns out it was just his birthday.
Wed nights at the Little Dipper is ladies night, so Erin, Kelly, Victoria, and I went last week. I got a lovely fizzy pink drink that I can't remember the name of right now, but it was great. We had the cheese course and a chocolate dessert, it was delicious!
It was nice to have some girl time. We're hoping to do this about once a month.
Took Sebastian to the beach last weekend, he really loves it. I'm so glad it's finally warming up, I'm hoping to go a lot more often.
I've got a lot of fun things comming up soon, including a trip to Texas to visit my Dad and his side of the family. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm going to try to post more often to keep everyone updated!
Ok.
I've felt pretty crappy overall the past week or so, hence the voxer's block and lack of posts. So here's what I've been up to.
1. Twice I've had dreams about meeting blog/vox friends in real life. In the first one I had a big dinner party with cutiebiscuit, Dav Yaginuma, Kokochi, CubistLiterature, MeeShell, SnuggleMuffin, and Spectrum. There were other people there too but I remember these the most because we've never met in person and I was so excited to meet everyone. The next was a dream where I went to NYC to CubistLiterature's new clothing store. It was awesome, and there was a secret entrance because so many people who wanted to buy stuff and they were going nuts. I had to show a VIP badge to get in, lol.
2. Had a girl's nite in with ImWackie, we had so much fun! Pizza, pedicures, and facials, oh my! here's the evidence:
3. Now that it's warmer I've been taking Sebastian outside more, he LOVES playing in the back yard.
4. I went to CD Alley today and was browsing through the records and got The Phantom of the Opera on a 2 LP record set. Perfect for my POTO collection. I also saw what (I hope) is the least selling record of all time:
Yes. That is a Miss Piggy Aerobics record. Wtf. And no, I did not buy it.
5. The songs stuck in my head this week:
- The charlie brown theme song (I HATE THIS SONG!!!)
- We are family
- the town music from My Sims for Wii (Sweetheart, I blame you)
Yes I know this is a kind of "throw it all together" post. I've been kind of uninspired lately. I've been too busy to sit down and post on the computer after work and even though I can post from my phone I'm too busy at work to get a coherent thought together. I'll try to make more mini-posts from the cell and save the important posts for home. My new schedule starts next week so we'll see how that goes.
Today Kelly hosted stitch n bitch at her new apt. It was so much fun! We had tea, cucumber sandwiches, muffins and watched Eagle vs Shark and Superbad. I even brought Sebastian over, he had fun too.
My harmony needles came in! They're so pretty and feel great to knit with.
Today was so much fun, I cant wait till next time.
Yesterday was the most fun I've had in a long time. Jackie, Daniel and I went to church and then had brunch at the tea room downtown. I love eating there it's always so pretty and the food is great, such a treat.
Then Jackie and I headed out to the ice skating rink, ice skating! I can't even roller skate what am I thinking?
It turns out that we had a blast, I had to hang on to her for dear life, but I skated and I didn't fall! Ha ha!
I can really do it! See, here's proof!
That being said it's a miracle I didn't fall and break my back but I had a great time. I will definitly go again. Poor Jackie had to hold me up most of the time but I don't think she minded too much.
After ice skating, we went and saw Enchanted. It was a cute movie. The prince cracked me up.
After all that we still weren't done, we headed downtown to see a friend of ours perform. Daniel always blinks in pictures so we made him take one of us.
We saw a couple friends from work there too, it was just a big party!
I love days like today. My friends are the best.
The weekend actualy started early with Brian's birthday on Thurs. We went out to a tapas restaurant with Kelly and Grey.
The food was good but our waiter seemed like he couldn't wait for us to leave. After that we went to the Irish pub to get a cider.
Saturday Brian's parents came down and we celebrated his birthday again. That night Rockzilla played in Sneads Ferry and I just had to go see them.
I had such a great time, Tom's band is so good! It was great to see him on stage again, he was in Headbanger's Ball when we were dating a few years ago. Rockzilla did a lot of the same songs, it brought back memories of my wilder days "touring" with the band ha ha.
It was Rodney's Birthday (Tom's older brother) so he got on stage and sang a few songs. Ryan also got up there and did a KISS song. By the end of the night all the girls in the bar were on stage dancing, it was a great show.
It was so good to get to hang out with the Sneads Ferry "Clan" again. I got so drunk since Ryan and Wanda were buying me drinks... I was hanging all over Wanda saying "I missed you so much!" lol
Sunday was Earl's going away party, it started out at the park but ended up at Kelly and Grey's (of course!). I played Chris in Wii bowling and bet him that if I won I would get to braid his hair. I lost in the second round but he was a good sport and let me give him a signature style anyway. ;) Yeah, it didn't last long before he made me take it out, ha ha!
Kelly and Brian decided to show off their matching hairstyles....
The party lasted well into the night... Poor Kelly and Grey were all worn out!
(aren't they soooo cute!)
My birthday was this past Monday, but since mondays suck, we celebrated on Saturday instead!
We ate at the little dipper fondue restaurant downtown, one of my favorites! Mom and Michael came down from Jacksonville and some friends from work joined us. We had such a great time.
After dinner we all went over to Kelly and Grey's house for the rest of the party. They made me the cutest happy birthday banner! How sweet!
I'm so glad my parents could make it too, it's always special when I get to spend time with them.
I had such a great time, I always feel happiest when I'm with my family and friends just having fun.
Today Jackie, Daniel and I decided to take our lunches to the park that's around the corner from where we work. It was the best idea ever, it was a beautiful day and we had a great time. And of course I tooks pics... because I take pics of everything! ;)
Jackie tried to tell me I could fit my legs through the kiddie swing, yeah right!
We had so much fun acting like kids, we'll definitly have to do that again.
Daniel and I drove to Carborro to see The Secret Handshake and MC Chris at The Cat's Cradle last night.
On the way down we stopped for gas and there was fruit stand outside. I couldn't resist, I had to buy a couple peaches, they were so sweet and juicy.
Since we were so close to Raligh we had to stop by the Crabtree Valley Mall so I could go to the Sanrio store (of course). Poor Daniel, he had to hold the little shopping basket for me while I walked up and down every isle about 15 times. I always take forever there but there's just so much to see! I think my dream job would be working at Sanrio, if I ever live in Raleigh that's exactly what I'm going to do.
We ate at the Cheesecake Factory first, (free valet parking, woo!) and then stopped by the Mac Store. The iPhone was pretty cool, it's nice and thin, but I wasn't actually that impressed. Not for how expensive it is anyway... and it's not the easiest thing to type on. I'd much rather have an iBook, or a blue nano but they only come in 4 gig and I want an 8 gig one.
The show was awesome, MC Chris was pretty cool, he was hanging out with fans and taking pics before the show so I got this one of him and Daniel. He puts on a really fun show. I wish I knew more of his music, I'd only heard his stuff a few times when Daniel would play it in the car but I still really enjoyed myself. He was so funny, one of his songs was even about Bobba Fet and he did a cover of "Dare to be Stupid". I hope he comes back through NC again soon.
Kelly invited us to see the midnight showing of the new Harry Potter movie with her, Grey, and her sister. Brian and I aren't big fans or anything (never even read the books *gasp*) but it was alot of fun. The theater was sooo packed! I'm glad we got out tickets online in advance. The movie was really great, and Kelly and I always have a great time together.
Her and Brian even conspired behind my back to play a trick on me. Earlier today I was teasing him about text messaging her so much, so when we met them at the theater, she called his phone and the ringtone was "Secret Lovers" like the cell phone comercial!! It was soooo funny! They crack me up. We had such a great time.
Yesterday was so great. Work sucked as usual, but Daniel and I got Krispy Kreme donuts for lunch. :)
After work Kelly, Grey, Daniel, Brian and I all went downtown and had a great time. By the end of the night Kelly and I were so drunk but the men babysat us so it was all good. Kelly even gave me her ring, now we're engaged, lol! I love having such great friends, I hope we go out again soon.
