Yesterday we had Mark and Kristen over for dinner, we always have a great time with them. Brian made pepercorn encrusted filet mignon, with a chardonay (?) sauce, rice, and creme brule. It was actually a strawberry shortcake creme brule, he made it for the first time yesterday. It was soooo good!
I love having friends over, Brian always makes something really good for dinner and I love playing hostes. ;)
After we ate we went downtown to the Blue Post and played pool and air hockey. Brian was the air hockey champion, no one could beat him. I came close to winning at pool but Mark still beat me. I need to go out and practice more.
Kristen and I are going out to see a show tonight, one of my friends from work is performing downtown. I can't wait!
Today I treated myself to sushi for lunch, I hadn't been to Nicky's in a while. I love the food there but I don't like going to restaurants by myself (still a little self-concious I guess) so I dragged Daniel with me. I had the BEST sushi roll, it's called Angel Hair and it's got tempura shrimp, avocado, cream cheese and crab meat, Yum! I willl definitly be ordering that again.
After work I stopped by a friend's house to feed her cats while she's on vacation, then we decided to go downtown and check out the Irish Pub (Brian had to get up early so he passed). I'd never been there but they had Woodchuck Cider, so I was happy. It's a really nice small place, no dance floor, no hootchie mamas, just beer and a little Irish music.
Passing by Finklesteins I saw an awesome Hello Kitty Guitar, I want it so bad but... I don't even know how to play! Ha ha! Then I saw some weird stenciling outside of the Soapbox, I wonder what it's about.
After the bar we grabbed a slice of pizza and then went to let Dallas (Daniel's dalmation) out since he'd been cooped up all day. I'm not much of a dog person but he's a sweet dog, even though he's pretty hyper most of the time.
Not bad for a Monday :)
Yesterday was my step-dad's birthday, Brian and I went to Jacksonville to see him and the family. We had portuguese food for the party, so Brian made a really yummy chicken stew to go along with the other dishes my mom made. I made the rice pudding, a very important portuguese food that's included in almost every holiday/celebration we have. It was my first time making it and my mom so proud, she kept gushing about how I was taking on the family traditions and stuff (she's sentimental like that).
Everyone had a wonderful time. I'm glad Michael had such a nice birthday, he's a great guy.
Tonight we went out to dinner to celebrate that Brian got a new job! He's been looking for something more permanant than his current contract that ends in April. His new job pays more and he'll work night like me. He'll also be able to do work on the side with his old employer during the day sometimes for extra money.
I'm also happy because I got my Tarina Tarantino necklace today. I've wanted one for a while and Brian was sweet enough to get me one. It's made with Swarovski crystals and pearls, I love it! Here's a close up.
What an awesome day!
I can't believe I didnt' post about Valentine's Day yet! I took the day off, it felt great to sleep in and veg out in front of the TV.
Brian got reservations for dinner but didn't tell me where until the last minute, The Little Dipper, our favorite fondue restaurant! It turns out he had to call them back in December just to get a reservation.
Our friends Kelly and Grey had dinner with us, we'd wanted to have fondue together for a while we had a great time.
I got my card from Brian after we got back, I actually saw that exact card in the store and thought how pretty it was. It was a total coincidence that Brian got it for me.
Overall it was a great day. :)
We had a great time with Chris and Christine this past weekend in Myrtle Beach. They'd never had fondue before so we made sure to eat at the Melting Pot. It was delicious as always.
The next day we went to the Ripley's Aquarium and Ripley's believe it or not. I took a ton of pictures, mostly in the underwater tunnel. The jellyfish pics are my favorite.
After that we stopped by the coach store to get my early Valentines day gift, my first coach bag. (I'll devote an entry entirely to my new lovelies...)
We had a great time, it was nice to be able to spend time with them since they weren't able to make it to the wedding.

Brian and I had brunch at the Wilmington Tea Room today. It's one of our favorite places to eat in Wilmington and we even had our wedding reception here. We got the usual, which is a full tea. It comes with a salad and a three tier serving tray full of scones, tea sandwiches, and desserts. We decided to try Blue Lady tea today, a black tea with citrus, passion fruit, and other flavors. So yummy. The tea room itself is just so pretty, and it's right on the waterfront downtown.
I had today off since I worked Sun for a coworker. I fully intended to do productive things, but I was a lazy bum instead.
12:15 pm - woke up after sleeping about 11 hours, catching up from lack of sleep all week.
1:15pm - woke up again since it felt so good to just lie in bed that I dozed off again.
2:00pm - had "breakfast" and decided to sit on the couch, watching tv and surfing the web, until Brian got home around 6pm.
6:30pm - went and had dinner at Indochine, a great thai food restaurant. I had the shrimp and pinapple curry, very yummy. I wanted to take pictures to post but it was so dark in there I should have used a seeing eye dog to guide my chopsticks to my food.
8:00pm - watched Children of Man, the new movie set in the future where women are unable to have children. It was pretty good, weird but good. Could have had a better ending though.
12:42am - posting on my blog when I should be in bed, since I have to work tomorrow. I'm not sleepy yet since I haven't really been awake for 12 hours yet, but that's what my bottle of Woodchuck cider is for.
I accomplished absolutly nothing today... and it felt damn good. :)

Last night I really outdid myself... I made dinner AND cookies! Remember, I'm the wife who cooks about twice a year! ;)
I was already planning to make sugar cookies for our team meeting, but unlike last time I did it right this time. I made some as sandwiches with cream cheese frosting and strawberry preserves, some with pastel colored glaze, and some with vanilla frosting and pink sprinkles. Yes they're on towels on the ironing board, our little table didn't have enought room for everything, ha ha. I took them to work today and everyone loved them. I'm already planning on trying out a few other recipies.
The lasagnia was a last minute idea, I really wanted to try to make a small pan since Brian usually makes a huge one. It wasn't as good as his since he makes the sauce from scratch but we both agreed that it was pretty darn good. And it was the perfect amount for dinner last night and tonight. If I keep this up I might need my own apron, move over Brian! ;)
