Trip to Southport

Today Chris and I decided to take a short trip to Southport. I hadn't gone there in a while, I'd forgotten how beautiful it is there. I love historic downtowns, it's like Wilmington's but without the night clubs, ha ha.

We took a few pictures by the water but there were seagull everywhere. You can always tell who the tourists are because they love to get them excited, lol.

Olde Village of Southport

This is an adorable group of stores call The Olde Village Shops of Southport.

The walkway connects about 10 cottages, they're mostly gift shops. I loved it! They're all SO cute! I didn't want to leave ha ha.

Pink Palace

The Pink Palace tea room and gift shop. The most ADORABLE little tea shop ever! They had teacups, vintage hankies, chocolates, and a small tea room in the back. We didn't get to eat there today but will definitely come back to do so soon.

After we got done enjoying downtown Southport we headed to dock to take the ferry to For Fisher. This tree was the perfect height to sit on, so of course I sat on it.

The sun was setting and there was barely any breeze. It was a nice trip.

We had a lovely time, it was nice to get out of town and get a change of scenery. The ferry ride home was the best, the sunset made the water an the clouds look so beautiful. I hope we can go back soon before it gets cold.

Road Trip to Rose Hill, NC

Today Toria, Dennis, Chris and I went to Rose Hill to visit the Duplin Winery. We all LOVE their blackberry wine, so we decided to go and stock up. First we took a tour of the winery, then a free tasting. We bought a case of several different wines, half was blackberry wine but we also got some of the Christmas wines which are delicious.

Then it was off to see The World's Largest Frying Pan!

It was built in 1963 and is still used for festivals and other events. It weighs 2 tons and uses 200 gallons of cooking oil.

Its 15 feet in diameter and uses 40 gas burners and can cook 365 chickens at once. It's covered right now, you can see the "handle" in the back.

It was such a fun day, I hope we can go back soon. Maybe when they're actually cooking something in the frying pan, lol.

Birthday Cupcakes

My birthday was on a Thurs. this year which was really fortunate for me. Coastal Cupcakes had Cheesecake Cupcakes so Chris decided to surprise me some!

Mom and Michael came down to have dinner with Chris and me on my birthday, we ate at Boca Bay. I'd never been there before but the food was great, especially the HUGE creme brule!

I also got a TON of Hello Kitty goodies mailed to me from my Dad, including a lunch bag, stationary, and even a pinata! (pictures coming soon, I can't find my camera)

A Sexy Tea Party!

Jackie threw me a Sexy Tea Party the following Saturday at her place.

It was so much fun! She made "tea" from firefly peach tea flavored vodka and had mini cupcakes and snacks.

Everyone had a great time, and I loved my Hello Kitty birthday candle. :)

Worth and Lauren's Wedding

Chris and I before the wedding

Chris's friends Worth and Lauren got married a few weeks ago and Chris was in the wedding party. The rehearsal dinner was at The City Club, the food was great and it was such a beautiful place.

The wedding was at Fort Fisher, it was a beautiful day and such a beautiful ceremony.

The wedding was 9:30 in the morning to avoid the heat, so the reception was a lovely brunch with lots of mimosas. A really wonderful day, I'm so glad I was able to attend.

For the 4th of July Chris and I went to our friend's house to watch the fireworks from his rooftop deck, the view was great.

There were a bunch of us up on the deck to and we all had a great time. I've always loved seeing fireworks and this was the best view I've had of the ones over the river downtown. After they were over we stayed and talked with friends for a while, then went to the Trolly Stop and had the best hot dogs ever! They were so good. :)

Last week Chris took me to see RENT at Thalian Hall, I'd never seen it before and I loved it! We went to dinner at Elija's before and just had the best evening ever. :)

I've been so busy lately but thankfully that's just because of all the fun things I've been doing. Chris and I have been spending a lot of time together, and also going out with all our friends.

Thursday a bunch of us drove to Raleigh to see Transformers 2 on IMAX, I love group adventures like that. We got lunch at some cafe, saw the movie, then went to the mall so I could go to the Sanrio store lol. I got a bunch of cute stuff including a Hello Kitty ring, too cute!

Here's what else I've been up to:

- Got to eat at Hakata for the first time since I moved away from home, it was sooo delicious! I've been going to that Japanese steakhouse since I was a kid, lol. Met Tom and Brandy there the other day for dinner and had a good time.

- Sang in church again today, was accompanied by the pianist instead of the organist today so I had to get used to the different intros to the songs... went well overall, I'm starting to get a little more confident standing up in front of everyone so that's good.

- Took Piddles to the tea room for brunch today, we sat outside I had a chicken salad sandwich and he had some sliced turkey, it was so nice.

- Saw Shakespeare on the Green last night, The Merry Wives of Windsor, at Greenfield Lake Theater. I try to go every year and as usual it was great!

So basically life is pretty good. I've still got some things I've got to deal with (like finding a roommate soon) but overall I'm so happy and grateful for all the wonderful friends I have. :)

The weekend actualy started early with Brian's birthday on Thurs. We went out to a tapas restaurant with Kelly and Grey.

The food was good but our waiter seemed like he couldn't wait for us to leave. After that we went to the Irish pub to get a cider.

Rockzilla

Saturday Brian's parents came down and we celebrated his birthday again. That night Rockzilla played in Sneads Ferry and I just had to go see them.

I had such a great time, Tom's band is so good! It was great to see him on stage again, he was in Headbanger's Ball when we were dating a few years ago. Rockzilla did a lot of the same songs, it brought back memories of my wilder days "touring" with the band ha ha.

It was Rodney's Birthday (Tom's older brother) so he got on stage and sang a few songs. Ryan also got up there and did a KISS song. By the end of the night all the girls in the bar were on stage dancing, it was a great show.

It was so good to get to hang out with the Sneads Ferry "Clan" again. I got so drunk since Ryan and Wanda were buying me drinks... I was hanging all over Wanda saying "I missed you so much!" lol

Sunday was Earl's going away party, it started out at the park but ended up at Kelly and Grey's (of course!). I played Chris in Wii bowling and bet him that if I won I would get to braid his hair. I lost in the second round but he was a good sport and let me give him a signature style anyway. ;) Yeah, it didn't last long before he made me take it out, ha ha!
